Birth Date:  March 11th, 2002

On May 15th, 2008 Skyler had various medical tests ran because family members had noticed a decrease in motor skills and balance.  After several test, doctors determined that the problems Skyler was experiencing was nothing serious and planned on sending him home.  Melissa, Skyler's mother, requested an MRI to be ran based solely on intuition.   Unfortunately, Melissa's intuition was right and doctors found an "egg-sized" malignant (cancerous) tumor in his brainstem, a brain tumor so rare that is only diagnosed 1-3 times annually.  Skyler was immediately flown to St. Louis Children's Hospital for further tests where it was determined by doctors and family that the best treatment he could receive would be given at St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN.  On May 26th, Skyler is scheduled to begin evaluation and treatment at S. Jude's.  We will continue to give updates throughout Skyler's recovery.

There are few kids more active and spirited than Skyler.  Aside from being a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan and "world champion" UNO player, Skyler enjoys soccer, tee ball, basketball, football, board games, video games, puzzles, and playing with his little sister Macy.  If I would ask Skyler what his favorite class was in school, his reply would be "RECESS!"  Skler's newest interest is his 8-week-old Black Labrador puppy that he named Sassy. Skyler and Sassy are fast becoming best friends.
